SIKKIM: ASCOFT TO BE COMMENCED AT JORETHANG PLAYGROUND

The maiden 'Akkar Summer Cup Open Football Tournament' (ASCOFT) organized by Jorethang Football Club (JFC) commenced at Jorethang Playground today. SLA Speaker Mr. K.N.Rai graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while the Guest of Honor was Deputy Speaker Mr. Sonam Gyasto Lepcha accompanied by IPR Minister cum Patron in Chief Mr. A. K. Ghatani, SE (Power) Mr. Jigme Namgyal, SDPO Mr. Sonam W. Bhutia, President (ASCOFT) Mr. Raj Mohan Pradhan, representatives from NJMC and public at large.

Addressing, the gathering Chief Guest Mr. K. N. Rai extended his congratulations to JFC in organizing one of the biggest summer football cup at Zoom-Salghari constituency.

While the match was held between Aakraman Gangtok and United Brothers Kalimpong on Wednesday,wherein the latter emerged winner with a score line of 2-3 respectively. It can also be noted that Mr. Rohit Ansari was named as man of the match.

At, the onset the Chief Guest alongside the dignitaries hoisted ASCOFT flag. According to reports, variety of cultural extravaganza marked the opening ceremony of ASCOFT, 2018.

It may be mentioned here that there are total of 18 teams participating from Sikkim and surrounding areas in this tournament and will be played at Jorethang playground from 4th to 21st July. The cash prize for the winner and runners up of the tournament is one lakh twenty five thousand and seventy five thousand respectively.
