INPT merges with TIPRA for the interest of Tiprasa people

AGARTALA: The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) today merged with the Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA), headed by Tripura’s royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma.

The merger was announced by INPT chief Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl and Deb Barma at a joint press conference at the Ujjayanta Palace here.

Addressing the media, Deb Barma made it clear that both the parties were in talks for the past several months for the merger.

Deb Barma said that both the parties decided to come together for the interest of the state and the Tiprasa people.

The royal scion also said that he is happy that the INPT, in their wisdom, decided on behalf of the entire community to strengthen the party.

Deb Barma also said that he has conveyed a message to the union home ministry to discuss about the subject of a separate TIPRALAND.

Earlier, both TIPRA and the INPT contested the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections together. They won 18 out of the 28 seats in the district council.
