Manipur's super cop Th. Brinda's election rally was stopped by police on Sunday agitating the supporters.

IMPHAL:  Manipur's super cop Th. Brinda's election rally was stopped by police on Sunday agitating the supporters.

Earlier Brinda had announced her decision to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections. In this regard, a bike rally was organized on Sunday which was supposed to take off from Hicham Yaicham Pat area. However, the permission for the rally wasn't granted.

After denial of permission, hundreds of supporters thronged in at the residence of Manipur's women super cop with ticolours in hands. The supporters wanted to take out a rally from her residence however once gain, they were stopped by the police.

The disagreement led to a minor scuffle between the supporters and police.

This comes at a time when several rallies are taking place ahead of the polls.

Known as the daring Super cop, Thounaojam Brinda had earlier announced that she will be contesting in the upcoming Manipur General Elections in 2022. She took the decision to contest elections from the Yaiskul Assembly Constituency.

In 2018, she made the headlines in a drugs haul case. The former Additional Superintendent of Police has also been conferred with the Chief Minister’s Police Medal for Gallantry, the same year, for her contribution in keeping the smuggling activities at bay in Manipur.

She was also vocal about interventions from the Chief Minister and even went to accuse him of delaying investigation against him.
