Neeraj Chopra scripts history; bags gold for India

TOKYO: Neeraj Chopra scripts history by bagging gold at the Tokyo Olympics.

His feat marks India's first gold medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics and also the country's second individual gold medal in Olympic history after Abhinav Bindra's heroics in Beijing 2008.

With his historic effort, he also took India's medal tally to seven in the Summer games. It is the country's highest ever, beating the tally of six medals won at the London Games in 2012.

Union Sports Minister Neeraj Chopra took to Twitter to congratulate Chopra, "NEERAJ CHOPRA India’s Golden Boy ! India’s Olympic History has been scripted! Your superbly soaring throw deserves a Billion Cheers ! Your name will be etched in the history books with golden letters"
