AGARTALA: Reacting on the recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, TIPRA Chief Pradyot Manikya on Friday, stated that Sheikh Hasina is a friend of India and hopes that she will take serious actions against elements behind the culprits.
Speaking to Inside, "Any attack on Hindus in Bangladesh is unfortunate. Any reaction in India or in Tripura where fringe groups in India start attacking minorities in Tripura, then it is also not right. Violence for violence is not an answer. Two wrongs cannot make a right."

"India is a secular state. We do not want any violence. Tripura never had ethnic riots. But religiously there has been no problem. In fact, we have had a tradition where Maharaja's of Tripura have actually built a mosque for Mughal princess 400 years ago", he further added.
He added that that Tripura had a very old history of religious harmony.
"I don't think it is right for us to react on issues which actually will divide the society on the grounds of religion. The Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Buddhists have to live together peacefully in India and we shouldn't allow our emotions to run high", he added.
