BJP MLA from Tripura, Arun Chandra Bhowmik, ignited a controversy on Thursday by making a  remark that Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders should be attacked in 'Taliban style'.

AGARTALA: BJP MLA from Tripura, Arun Chandra Bhowmik, ignited a controversy on Thursday by making a  remark that Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders should be attacked in 'Taliban style'.

Reportedly, the remark was made during felicitation ceremony for the newly inducted Union Minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik.

In the video that is doing rounds on social media, the leader can be seen asking his party members to attack TMC in Taliban style.

“I appeal to all of you that we need to attack them in Talibani style. We need to attack them once they land at the airport here. We will protect our government led by Biplab Kumar Deb with every drop of blood,” he said in Bengali the video.

He further added that TMC has been attempting to harm the ruling government in Tripura and alleged that this was happening on the instigation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The video went viral inviting widespread outrage among the netizens.

Reportedly, Tripura TMC leader Subal Bhowmik has demanded the arrest of the legislator for his remark.
