65 polling stations in West Tripura report Web Camera anomalies

Agartala, April 25, 2019:

65 polling stations in West Tripura constituency reported anomalies regarding Web Camera installation in the Phase-I of Lok Sabha polls that was held on April 11.

The report was prepared on the basis of “statements of the Presiding Officer and Micro Observers regarding the installation of Web Camera in the polling stations and other irregularities.”

A statement undersigned by the Returning Officer of Tripura West Parliamentary Constituency stated that out of 433 polling stations, 65 reported anomalies in the installation of Web Camera.

Among these 65 polling stations, in 20 polling stations no camera was installed, in 15 polling stations the cameras fell off but were not reinstalled, in 6 polling stations the cameras were installed after 6 am, in one the camera fell off and broke, in 6 stations the cameras were removed by the operator before closure of polls, in 5 stations cameras fell off multiple times, in 3 stations camera positions were changed by the operator, in one the camera was covered by cloth and in 8 stations, other irregularities were reported.

Whereas in the same report, it is stated that out of the 433 polling stations, 54 stations reported poll process violation and in 379, the video footage was recorded for less than 9 hours.
