Agartala, November 29, 2019:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called upon all the political parties of Tripura to attend the crucial meeting with Amit Shah on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. However, opposition has refused to attend the meeting scheduled to be held today in New Delhi.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb and Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath have already reached Delhi to attend the meeting. Royal Scion Pradyot Manikya has also reached Delhi with indigenous civil society leaders.

It may be mentioned here that the meeting on the controversial CAB is scheduled for Friday evening. Amit Shah has also called upon former CM Manik Sarkar, CPI- M state secretary Goutam Das, former MP Jitendra Chowdhury from CPI- M, Congress leader Subal Bhowmik, Pijush Biswas and many other leaders have been called to attend the meeting at Amit Shah’s residence.

However, opposition leader Pijush Biswas alleged that the Home Ministry had intentionally sent the letter in the last moment, a day ahead of the meeting.

He further said that the central government does not want to listen to anything from any corner and that's why they had sent the invitation in the last minute. He went on to say that Tripura Congress has condemned Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s invitation.
