Agartala, June 16, 2019:

Alliance partners BJP and IPFT continue to clash in Tripura after the attack on a BJP MP's house on Friday.

The situation is really tense in the state as the allies have turned foes over the issue and the violence that has erupted has put a question mark on the alliance. It may be mentioned that the BJP and IPFT have been at loggerheads since before the elections and both the allies fielded candidates, although the saffron unit won both the seats with a comprehensive margin.

On Friday night, IPFT members attacked and ransacked the house of newly elected MP from East Tripura constituency Rebati Mohan Tripura’s house at Durgapur under Gandachera subdivision of Dhalai of Tripura.

Two persons were injured in the incident. MP Rebati Mohan Tripura blamed the IPFT supporters for the incident.

They set one bike on fire, broke the car, pelted bricks at his house which is just next to 71 battalion BSF border out post. The attackers also fired three rounds from country made gun and raised the Twipraland slogan.

The MP had celebrated the victory rally there on Friday and left for Agartala after that. The attack seems to be a fallout of the victory rally.

One of the eyewitnesses alleged that the attack had taken place in front of the police. They even raised the question if the MP is not safe then how safe they are.

Situation is reportedly volatile there now. It is learnt that BJP supporters have gathered there with rods and sticks to attack the IPFT supporters.
