Breaking | Tripura East Lok Sabha candidate attacked by thugs

In the latest incident of poll-related violence, Congress candidate from Tripura East Lok Sabha Constituency, Rajkumari Pragya Debbarma, was attacked today by thugs.

As per our sources, the Congress candidate was on her way to campaign in Khowai, when she was confronted by three thugs near the Behalabari area.

One of the attackers, identified as Mintu Debbarma, was arrested, while the two others fled away. Mintu Debbarma, a resident of Behala Bari from Khowai, allegedly tried to throw a brick at the Congress candidate. It has been alleged by that the attackers were hired vy some third party to attack the Tripura East Congress candidate. Sources have informed that the royal scion has escaped unhurt from the attack.

It may be mentioned that the election in Tripura East Constituency, which was scheduled to be held on 18 April, was deferred till 23 April due to security concerns.
