Nigerians held in Assam for entering India without documents

Karimganj: As many as 3 Nigerians were intercepted by Assam police while breaching the borders and entering Assam through Tripura. They were reportedly heading towards Guwahati city.

The 3 Nigerians have been identified as Fergimeaneg Mmadubuko (31), Sylvanuss Nwawuru (30) and Ioicin Nwachukwi Nwakokwara (29).

All of them failed to furnish any legal document that could justify their entry into India.

A sum of Rs. 550, as well as 100 US dollars, were seized from their possession, the officials said.

According to the police, the accused would be produced before Karimganj Civil Court very shortly after completion of all the formalities. A case has been registered against the three under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act, 1946 read with Section 6 of the Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950, officials said.

"I have been posted at a Naka duty and during routine checking of the night super vehicles three Nigerian persons were arrested," a police official said.

According to the Nigerians' version, they were supposed to go to Delhi and boarded the vehicle from Dharmanagar.
