TRIPURA: CBI FORMALLY TAKES CHARGE OF JOURNALISTS’ MURDER CASE

Gleam of hope for justice

The demand for CBI enquiry against the brutal murder of two journalists in Tripura has been accepted by CBI late at night on June 22.It may be mentioned that the demand for an impartial CBI enquiry had been going on since last year. State Law minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the previous government of Tripura had failed to hand over the case to CBI but the present BJP government had decided in its very first cabinet meeting that the inquiry of the case would be handed over to the CBI which is set to begin investigation as soon as possible. It may be mentioned that Sudip Dutta Bhowmik was shot dead by a TSF officer at RK Nagar Camp. Before this, Santanu Bhowmik was also killed while covering the clashes between IPFT and CPM in 2017.
