Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Tripura Board of Secondary Education on July 3rd, 2020 declared the results of Madhyamik exams. TBSE President Bhabatosh Saha declared the results through a press conference at the TBSE building this morning. According to Saha, results of new syllabus exams were declared as all the exams of the old syllabus could not take place due to the COVID-19 induced lockdown.
The pass percentage of the state had improved by about 5 percent as it stood at 69.49 percent in comparison to the previous year’s 64.60 percent. Altogether 48,499 students appeared for the exams and above 31,000 students cleared the crucial board exam. Among the total examinees, 22,836 were male candidates and the rest of the 26,158 students were girls.
As per the result of abstracts released by the board, the pass percentage of indigenous students also improved but a slight dip was recorded in the case of the Scheduled caste category students. In the TTAADC areas, Tripura also the pass percentage improved in comparison to the previous year. Gomati District has recorded the highest pass percentage (77.46) and Dhalai recorded the lowest pass percentage (52.92). In both the districts, the pass percentage improved in comparison to last year.
Saha said, altogether 80 schools of the state have 100 cent percent pass percentage and 5 schools reported to have zero pass percentage. The number of 100 percent performing schools was 53 last year and zero performing schools was 34.

The board has also declared a provisional top ten merit list depending on the marks secured by the students and altogether 24 students from different parts of the state succeeded to make inroads to the merit list.
Daipayan Debnath of Netaji Vidyaniketan, Agartala in Tripura secured the first position in the merit list. Speaking exclusively to this reporter, Diapayan said, he wants to become an engineer and to work for the betterment of society.
Diapayan’s father, a vegetable seller in the local market, broke into tears and said, his son has achieved something that he could not even dream of. Daipayan, a meritorious student from his childhood also said, it is the indomitable spirit and hard work that can only bring success for anyone.
Meanwhile, altogether 328 students of the state secured 100 out of 100 in mathematics. On being asked about the higher secondary results, Board President Saha said, “We cannot conduct exams of more than one subjects of not less than 8,000 students of higher secondary exams. We are working hard to chalk out ways so that a formula can be finalized through which we will analyze the results of the students who are unable to write their papers for the pandemic”.
