Agartala, December 15, 2019:
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has been arranging surprise visits in the tribal area of the state amid the furor over the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act which has reportedly caused tensions to spike between tribals and non-tribals.
On Friday evening, Deb visited Sonamura subdivision, and on Saturday evening, he visited Mandwai area. According to reports, the Tripura CM also had took food to some tribal houses at Sonamura and Mandwai, to open the doorway to peace in the region.
Meanwhile, the opposition CPI (M) has called for the organization of state, sub-divisional and block level peace meetings and all party meetings to bring peace and amity among the tribal and non tribal people amid rumblings of a discord.
The former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar also appealed to the people to maintain peace and tranquility in the state.

The CPI(M) has also demanded that peace meetings should be organized under the leadership of CM Biplab Deb to quell the volatility of the situation. Sarkar further urged to the CM to take initiatives to bring peace in the state.
Meanwhile, the CPI(M)'s tribal wing Ganamukti Parishad (GMP) has announced that it will file a petition against the controversial legislation in the Supreme Court. GMP president and former MP Jitendra Choudhury informed that he will go to Delhi on Monday, and within Wednesday, the petition will be filed.
On the other hand, Tripura royal scion and head of the erstwhile Manikya dynasty, Pradyot has already filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the C(A)A. Pradyot informed that senior lawyer of SC Kapil Sibal will move the case in the SC.
