Agartala, December 24, 2019:

The CPI-M unit in Tripura have categorically denied the allegation made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that “CPIM and Congress have been trying to encourage militancy in the state's tribal areas”.

Following these allegations, CPI(M) State Committee Member and West District Party Secretary Pabitra Kar turned down heavily on the BJP party for its remarks and said that the left front has been fighting against militancy in Tripura.

Kar said, “CPIM also lost many of its comrades in this fight against militancy. The left front government of Tripura has minimized the extremist problem in the state.” Claiming the allegations to be baseless, Pabitra Kar slammed the BJP party saying “IPFT, which is the mask of extremist group in Tripura is now the alliance partner of BJP in state.

And people of the state know very well who are supporting extremism.” To this, Congress spokesperson Tapas Dey said that, they don’t expect such kind of statements from BJP. He said, “Those parties in north east patronize or support militancy, BJP has made them their alliance partners. In Tripura too, IPFT is willing to divide the state. But every time, Congress has been fighting to bring them back in the main stream.”

The BJP in its official Facebook page had shared a post stating, “The people in the state are angry as the opposition parties are fomenting secessionist movement again.”

Adding that in the past 25 years in Tripura, CPI-M with support from Congress party, patronized militancy in the tribal area to spread fear among the people, BJP added that after forming the government in Tripura, it has restored peace in those areas.

"The CPI-M had installed one party ruled in Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) by creating trouble in hilly areas and Congress fully supported it,” alleged the saffron party.

It may be mentioned here that recently, the outlawed NLFT has served a threat notice to the newly elected MP Rebati Tripura for supporting the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in the Parliament. The development sounded an alarm bell among the law enforcement agencies.
