Tripura: Govt lifts night curfew during puja festivities

Agartala: The Tripura government on Thursday declared not to impose a night curfew during Durga Puja celebrations in the state.

However, the local administrations can take the decision in this regard and can impose a night curfew if they feel that it would help curb the spread of the virus, it has been decided.

Senior police official Manik Lal Das said that the police have made adequate arrangements to hold a peaceful celebration amid the restrictions.

Das further added that arrangements have been made to control the crowd at pandals and other public areas across the state.

Puja organizers have also been requested to help the administration in regulating the gathering during the festival.

Chief Secretary of Tripura, Manoj Kumar said, “The state government issued guidelines for Durga Puja on September 4, in which it was decided to impose night curfew during the festival. However, on review of the situation, it appears prudent not to impose any night curfew during Puja days as it will increase the crowd count during non-curfew hours.
