Tripura: INPT Party to Begin Series of Movements against 'CAA'

Agartala, February 5, 2020:

The Indigenous Nationalist Front of Tripura (INPT), after its one day state committee meeting on Wednesday, has decided to begin a series of movements against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and demand Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the State.

The party today passed a set of resolutions in the meeting which includes movement against Citizenship Amendment Act, demand of ILP and more power to the ADC. A separate committee has been also formed for the ensuing ADC polls and the Party General Secretary has been made the convener of the election committee.

The committee will further chalk out party’s strategies and pre-electoral arrangements with other likeminded parties in the ensuing elections, it was decided. The party will also hold a state conference at Khwmulwang on April 8 and 9 next.

Apart from this, a resolution has been also been taken to organize a 5 hours long sit-in demonstration at Takarjala on February 10 next. This will be followed by a number of such protests in other parts of the land.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, Party General Secretary Jagadish Debbbarma said, “We are looking for other regional parties. Doors for dialogue are open from our part for any party which agrees with our opinions. We want a greater front to take on the forceful imposition of CAA, which is against the interest of the indigenous population”.
