Even after the passage of six days, Tripura police has failed to detain Badal Choudhury till now, which has led to the suspension of an SP.
The search operation is going on across the state by police personnel to nab the former PWD minister. Following this, the state government has started taking action against the top police officers of the State.

On Thursday evening, West Tripura District SP, Ajit Pratap Singh has been suspended from his post. The order was passed by the state administration following his failure to nab the absconding MLA. Senior Police officer Manik Lal Das has now been posted as the SP of West Tripura district.
Moreover, DIG (Southern Range), Arindam Nath has been removed from his post and posted at the state police headquarter without any portfolio. In replacement, Soumitra Dhar posted as the new DIG (southern range).
The investigative officer Raju Reang has also been removed from this case and DSP Ajoy Kumar Das has been given the charge as new IO.

All these government orders were passed on Thursday.
Apart from this, the government is contemplating a slew of measures against the police team earlier put in charge of arresting Badal Chowdhury.
It may be mentioned here that District and Sessions Court on Wednesday night rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury, the ‘wanted’ accused in an alleged Rs. 600 Cr PWD scam.
Moreover, former Chief Engineer Sunil Bhowmik has already been booked in connection with the case, while former Principal Secretary YP Singh, who has an FIR named against him, could not be arrested yet.
The vigilance department had lodged an FIR against Badal Choudhury, Sunil Bhowmik and Yash Pal Singh. According to the FIR, over Rs. 200 crore was misappropriated due to cost escalation while awarding as many as 13 constructions works to the tune of 800 crore.
