Undergraduate teachers, whose term has ended on December 31, 2017, will receive payment of cash equivalent to leave salaries for the days of earned leave at credit.
The payment for the Undergraduate teachers will be based on the provisions stated in the TSCS (Leave) Rules, said a latest statement issued by the Directorate of Elementary Education, Tripura.

The statement read, “Now, after careful examination it is clarified that the payment of cash equivalent of leave salary for the days of earned leave at credit may be granted to those Undergraduate Teachers whose services have been ended on 31.12.2017 subject to the fulfilment of provisions contained in TSCS (Leave) Rules.”
The letter, undersigned by the Director of Elementary Education, Tripura, IAS Tanusree Deb Barman, was directed to all the Head of Office & DDOs and Inspector of Schools. It was addressed to all the District Education Officers in Tripura West, Sepahijala, Khowai, Gomati, South, Dhalai, Unakoti districts with request to bring the context to the Head of Office & DDO under their jurisdiction.

It may be mentioned here that the contracts of the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate teachers were terminated in 2014 by the Tripura High Court. It had termed the induction of the teachers as ‘unconstitutional'.
However, the Supreme Court upheld the High Court verdict and terminated their jobs with effect from December 31, 2017. The terminated teachers were later provided with ad hoc positions for six months.
