Following the ban of Chinese apps in the country including Tiktok and Likee, there has been a demand to present the content after the absence of such platforms. In Tripura, few youths who are themselves college students have come up with a short video sharing app called E-Ntertain. The owner of the app is Subrajit Debbarma and the developers are Borok TV, Monojit Debbarma and Birajit Debbarma.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, the youths revealed that it was during the lockdown, they devised the idea of making the app with their inspiration to do something for the country. "After the India ban on china apps, we wanted to do something for the country and thus made an indigenous app. We are based in Agartala and have an app development in Bangalore", said VU Tiprasa.

As for their ambitions ahead, he said, "we are trying to bring it in IOS now and are looking for advertisers and promotion. So far, only in 2 days we have had 2000 downloads".

However, the team faces several challenges from slow internet to server problems. "we have had server problems as each video is about 10/15 mb and with that creates a server jam. There are lots to work in servers as service providers upload videos for which we need to backup. There are also promotion problems as we are students and don't have enough money to promote an app. The govt has also not given any help and we on ourselves have spent more than 2 lakhs. We will now carry it to IOS which will lead to more than 4 lakhs cost. All of this has been possible with determination and nice developers", said the team member.
