Violence in Tripura is continuing unabated as two pregnant women were assaulted by a mob of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, alleged the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M). Saramani Gour and Chakamani Gour two pregnant woman were attacked by the BJP workers, alleged CPI(M) MP Jitendra Choudhury. The incident reportedly took place at Chulubari village under Kamalpur sub-division of Dhalai district. Jitendra Choudhury alleged that one pregnant woman lost her foetus following the attack as BJP workers.
Another woman was also beaten in her lower abdomen. The victims however refused to register complaint to the police in fear of further attacks. One of the victim Saramani Gour said she was beaten at mid night by a group of unidentified miscreants. Another victim Chakamani Gour told she was two months pregnant but due to the attack she lost her foetus. She also told she did not identify any of the attackers.
