Tripura Police, on August 19 suspended a guard commander and replaced another security personnel, initiating disciplinary proceedings against them after a group of people created chaos inside the residence of former Minister and BJP MLA Manoj Kanti Deb, late at night on August 18 in Kamalpur under Dhalai District.
Sources close to the BJP MLA stated that four drunken youths entered Manoj Kanti Deb's house and attempted to attack him despite the MLA being inside the home at the time.
"Around 12:30 on Sunday night, four youths attacked former minister and MLA Manoj Kanti Deb’s residence. They came and started kicking the main entrance of the house," said a source.

Furthermore, the source also mentioned that the miscreants somehow managed to open the gate and enter the house.
"The MLA’s personal bodyguard rushed to the spot after hearing the commotion. The intruders forcefully opened the gate, entered the house, and began using foul language to abuse the MLA," the source added.
Meanwhile, Dhalai District Police in a statement said, “In the viral video shared and circulated by various Digital media houses in connection with last night's incident outside the Kamalpur MLA’s Residence, it is being Reiterated that the concerned guard commander has been suspended and other security personnel have been closed and replaced. Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against all concerned responsible for the lapses”.
