5 AK-56 assault rifles seized in Kokrajhar; 6 arrested

 

GUWAHATI: Arms and ammunition -- including 5 AK-56 rifles -- were recovered yesterday in Gossaigaon of Kokrajhar district of Assam. 6 persons have been apprehended for carrying the banned items.

 

 

"On the basis of source information that some miscreants along with some arms/ammo/explosive are moving in a Scorpio vehicle at Nasraibil area under Saraibil BOP of Gossaigaon police station, IC Saraibil SI Mithun Taye and his team stopped the vehicle bearing registration no.AS 16 A 4165," informed an official.

The team of police searched the vehicle and recovered 5 AK-56 rifles, 8 Chinese-made hand grenades, 300 AK-56 bullets, etc.

 

 

"BP pouches, mobile phone 3, blankets, plastics, toothbrushes etc, have also been recovered," the official further added.
