Imphal, April 19, 2019:

With a 80.47% voter turnout, Inner Manipur Constituency, which headed to the polls on April 18, has seen a spike in voter turnout in the second phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as compared to the 2014 election.

It is the second Constituency in Manipur that went to the polls, the other being Outer Manipur which went to the polls on 11 April.

Over nine lakh voters were expected to exercise their franchise at 1,300 polling stations in the second phase of polling. Of them, 4,80,751 were women voters.

It may be mentioned that polling came to an abrupt end following skirmishes between some voters and CRPF personnel in Inner Manipur's 6/10 Kyamgei Muslim Makha Leikai polling station in Imphal East.

Eleven candidates are in the fray from the Constituency.
