Assam: 5 Oil Tankers Catch Fire in Karbi Anglong, No Casualties

Diphu, February 5, 2020:

Five oil tankers caught fire in Karbi Anglong district of Assam on Tuesday evening, damaging property worth several lakh rupees. No casualties were reported in the incident.

The incident took place at Khatkhati area under the Bokajan police station in Karbi Anglong. Authorities have reported the oil tankers were reportedly parked in an unauthorised parking place at Gautam Basti area near Lahorijan Khatkhati when they erupted in flames. However, it is as of yet unknown how the trucks caught fire in the first place.

According to reports, locals in the area informed the authorities that the trucks had caught on fire as soon as the flames were spotted.

Later, police and fire service personnel managed to douse the flames and thankfully, no one died in the fire incident. However, a nearby hut was completely gutted in the incident. Meanwhile, the Bokajan police personnel have launched an investigation to find out the cause of the fire.
