Assam cheers for Lovlina, lone contender for Tokyo Olympics from state

Joining the state in cheering for ace boxer and Assam's daughter Lovlina Borgohain, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Friday extended wishes to the boxer.

GUWAHATI: Joining the state in cheering for ace boxer and Assam's daughter Lovlina Borgohain, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Friday extended wishes to the boxer by putting up her banners and posters across the state.

Different committees of the organization cheered for the boxer across the state including Morigaon, Dhemaji, Charadeo etc.

The Kamrup (M) district unit as well as the the Narengi committee too has put up Lovlina's poster extending wishes.

Apart from these units, few more area wise units have put up her banners wishing her good luck.

"We hope that Lovlina will bring laurels to the country as well as the state and shine as a star in the Tokyo Olympics", said a member of the organization.

Adding the first feather to her hat, Lovlina Borgohain got 'bye' in the first round of Olympics after her opponent withdrew from the event on Thursday in Tokyo.

She will be facing Germany’s Nadine Apetz in pre-quarter final of the event scheduled on July 27.
