Uncertainty prevails over the resumption of internet services in Assam, as the state government has filed a review petition against the Gauhati High Court’s order to resume the internet service by 3 pm on Tuesday.
The Advocate General filed the review petition on behalf of the state government on Tuesday after the HC sent out its directive.

According to sources, the hearing on the review petition will be held on Thursday. The state has claimed that intelligence reports have indicated that resumption of the internet may have adverse effects on the law-and-order situation in the State.
Earlier, the Chief Justice of Gauhati High had ordered the Assam government to resume the internet services from today onwards, after hearing the PIL filed against the suspension of internet services in the state for 6 days. Broadband services were resumed from 10 am on Tuesday, however.
As many as three advocates have filed a PIL against the suspension of the internet services in Assam.

According to reports, the chief justice of the court, after hearing the PIL., has asked the state government to resume the internet services within 3 pm today.
The order further stated that the state government should fix the time of resuming of internet services in the state as soon as possible. Or the state government shall find a way out to maintain the services.
