GUWAHATI:  Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary today said that the Assembly complex entry passes will be digitalised with an expiration date Instead of traditional paper passes to ensure more efficiency.

He further said that MLAs will be given digital passes that will quickly clarify their status and alert security officials.

The moment the MLA will reach the security camera immediately takes his photo and details will be shown on the screen, he added.

If any general public wants to enter the assembly during a session, he must have the recommendation of an MLA or officer.

He also went to say that the news reporters will be given clearance based on their passes, of which there will be three types.

Moreover, the MLAs will also be able to use laptops inside the Assembly and will be able to use the internet as well, however, mobile phones, on the other hand, will not work since ‘jammers' have been installed on the premises.

He also stated that vernacular reporters working for non-Assamese media outlets will have access to the Assembly grounds.

Speaking about the Assembly Press Advisory Committee Daimary said it would be dissolved from today onwards due to some misunderstanding among the media persons, and the official notification will be released soon.

The Media Advisory Committee was formed earlier this week on July 7.
