Manipur police on Wednesday made a rather interesting revelation! They said that insurgents from the Northeastern states of India are receiving training in the training camps in Bangladesh and added that this came to their notice when they arrested one activist of the proscribed Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL), an underground outfit operating in Manipur, fighting for sovereignty of Manipur.
Superintendent of police Thoubal police station, Dr S Ibomcha said that a Bangladesh trained insurgent was arrested in a joint raid carried out by the Commandos of the Manipur police and Assam Rifles on Wednesday morning at Langathel village in Thoubal district.
A joint team of Commandos of Thoubal under the command of Okramcha Wangkhomba, DSP (DCO) Thoubal police station and a column of 26 Assam Rifles arrested one Sagolsem Nongyai Meitei alias Naoba, 20, son of S Manao Meitei, who is an active cadre of the banned underground outfit Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL), from his residence at Langathel Kangjeibung Leikai, Thoubal district at around 5 am on Wednesday, police said.
Sources have revealed that S Nongyai joined KYKL in September, 2017 and got 45 days basic military training at Dhaka, Bangladesh under Army number 019 of 2017, the police added.
