It has just been confirmed that a person from Hailakandi district of Assam has just tested positive for the novel coronavirus or COVID-19. The latest positive case, a 65-year-old male, has a travel history to Saudi Arabia, it has been confirmed.
Tweeting out about the development moments earlier, Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, "A person from Hailakandi district, with a travel history to Saudi Arabia, has ben confirmed as data-focusable="true">#COVID19 positive. The total number of data-focusable="true">#Covid patients in data-focusable="true">#Assam now stands at 28."
Earlier in the morning, another case had been detected, in Dhubri district. The last person is said to have links with the Nizamuddin Markaz event in Delhi that was held in March last. Reportedly, all but one of the cases have links to the religious congregation in Nizamuddin Markaz that was held in March last.

It is to be mentioned here that the state of Tripura on Monday reported its first case of the virus. Confirming this via Twitter earlier today, Tripura CM Biplab Deb said, “First COVID19 positive case detected at Tripura. The patient is from Udaipur. Don’t Panic, we are taking proper care of the patient. Stay Home Stay Safe.”
In another development, the 23-year-old from Manipur, who was the first in the Northeast Indian region to test positive for the contagion, has made a "complete recovery".
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India has reported 4,312 overall cases of the virus, with 352 patients cured/discharged. However, 124 people have died in the country due to coronavirus complications.
