A Head Constable of the Border Security Force (BSF) died after Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) opened fire at the troop which was on its way for a flag meet on their side.
The Head Constable, Vijay Bhan Singh, received bullets on his head, following which he succumbed to the injuries.

According to reports, three Indian fishermen had gone for fishing in River Padma in the border area. They were arrested by BGB and later two of them were released.
The BGB had called for the BSF post Commander for a flag meeting. However, when the Commander approached the BGB patrol with five troopers on a BSF boat, the Border Guards allegedly tried to gherao them. They even refused to release the Indian fishermen.

The BSF troops were attacked when they were trying to return, as per reports. Head Constable Vijay Bhan Singh and another crew member sustained injuries. While Singh died, the injured constable was taken to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital Behrampore.
