Guwahati, February 10, 2019:

Former Finance Minister and former senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha blasted the BJP administration for its stance on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, while taking part in a meet held in Guwahati to discuss the pressing political issues of the day.

Speaking about the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, he said: “This Bill is wrong from every angle. It is an existential question and the opposition to this Bill is understandable as the very existence of the Northeast is under threat. This Bill is wrong from a constitutional, administrative and legal point of view”, the senior leader said.

Sinha also compared the BJP administration to the ‘Kauravas’, antagonists of Indian epic Mahabharata, raising many eyebrows.

It is to be mentioned that Sinha, who left the Saffron party in 2018, has become increasingly vocal against his former party and its policies.

Sinha, in his scathing attack on the current administration, also accused the dup of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party President Amit Shah of trying to “manage” media in the country and turn it into the BJP’s propaganda arm.
