Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi Urges Former CJI Ranjan Gogoi to Join Legal Fight against 'CAA'

Mariani, December 25, 2019:

Congress MLA from Mariani, Rupjyoti Kurmi, is currently staging a 12-hour protest at Thana Chariali with a set of demands. During his protest, Kurmi appealed to retired CJI from Assam, Ranjan Gogoi, to intervene in the legal fight against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, Rupjyoti Kurmi said that through his protest, he demands the Government to scrap the "unconstitutional" and "Assam Accord nullifying" Citizenship Amendment Act.

He further made an appeal to the people of Assam to continue with their protests against the CAA in a democratic and non-violent manner.

Kurmi also condemned the BJP leaders, including CM Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma, of tempting the people of the State with promises amid the protests.
