Guwahati, June 5, 2019:

Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated by the Muslim community today with much fervour in various parts of India. The festival celebrated across the world filled up the hearts of the Islamic population with unadulterated joy.

After a month-long observation of the Ramadan, Muslim community celebrated the Eid-Ul-Fitr on Wednesday all over India. Assam is no exception.

While offering prayers in the early part of the day the devotees wished for maintaining peace and brotherhood. The celebrations were characterised by family get together, exchange of gifts and greetings.

The Burah Jame Masjid in Assam’s Guwahati city held the Namaz at 8:30 am in the morning where devout Muslims offered their Namaaz and exchanged greetings with each other.

The festival was held in several parts of the Northeast also as the Muslims offered Namaz and took part in the festivities.

The date of Eid ul-Fitr typically varies from country to country, depending on whether the moon has been spotted. The lunar cycle is used to calculate the Islamic Hijri era and this year’s Ramadan was observed at a different time across India, as the moon was not visible in some parts of India.
