KOHIMA: Taking a great initiative once again to remind two-wheeler riders about the importance of wearing safety headgears while riding, Kohima Police led by Kevithuto Sophie (IPS) on Thursday handed out free helmets to defaulting two-wheeler riders without helmets.

 

Motorcycles and scooters are used by every age and every gender as considered convenient to travel locally from one place to another but, often for our convenience we sometimes take our safety for granted and forget to wear headgears out of rush, which many times leads to adverse irreversible situations.

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, motorcyclists are almost five times more likely to be killed in an accident than individuals riding in a vehicle.

 

It has long been recognized that helmets reduce the risk of injury or death in a motorcycle accident significantly. Some states have laws requiring motorcyclists to wear helmets because of their effectiveness.
