Meiraba Luwang has brought laurels to his State of Manipur after winning the Bangladesh Junior International Series 2019 title here on Sunday.
The Manipur lad, who was the top-seed saw off the challenge of Malaysian Ken Yong Ong 21-14, 21-18, in the final that lasted for only 38 minutes. Meiraba, who was one of the 5 Indians in the main draw, overcame the challenge of Malaysian, M. Fazriq Mohamad Razif, in the semis.

It was a straightforward and routine victory for the lad, and is his second BWF junior title in two months.
Meiraba had clinched the boys’ singles U-19 title at the Woncheon Yonex Korea Junior Open International Challenge last month. In the final, Maisnam Meiraba Luwang needed only 36 minutes to beat Korean Lee Hak Joo in straight games and secure the Korea Junior Open International title.
This is the 16-year-old rising star’s fourth international title this year following his triumphs at the Russian Junior White Nights 2019 and India Junior International 2019.
Luwang would especially be pleased with the way he rebounded after a disappointing exit from the World Junior Championships, where he crashed out in the round of 64.
In women's singles, Indian shuttler Treesa Jolly lost to Thailand's third seed Krittaporn Jiantanet 21-12, 16-21, 21-16 in a tightly-contested final.
