The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) in a resolution adopted on May 31, urged Rahul Gandhi to continue as the party president.
The MPCC office bearers at a meeting held at Congress Bhavan in Aizawl, unanimously decided to stand by Rahul Gandhi and endorsed the CWC resolution urging Rahul Gandhi to continue as party president.
The MPCC resolved that Rahul Gandhi must continue as the party president. According to them his leadership is required for the country and it is he who can steer the party out of its present crisis.
The MPCC office bearers felt that Rahul Gandhi had shown an exemplary leadership during the party’s election campaign across the country.
A statement issued by MPCC said, “We felt that he has wholeheartedly given whatever he could offer to the party, the outcome of the recent Lok Sabha election may not have come in our favour, but nevertheless, the Congress party has emerged as one of very few political parties in India that has tallied more seats than the previous Lok Sabha election.”
According to MPCC Rahul Gandhi has championed the spirit of secularism in India.
“The Mizo people, living out of fear that secularism might be hampered by the ruling BJP and its allies. The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee is convinced that Shri Rahul Gandhi is a shield that will protect religious minorities across the country from the elements of anti-secular forces like BJP and its allies,” the statement said.
