Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi in a speech delivered on Saturday evening tried to shake off the image of divisiveness attached to him and stated his intention to reach out to the minority communities.
Addressing ruling alliance members at the Central Hall of Parliament, Modi said that the minorities have been deceived the same way as the poor. Their education and health should have been in focus, but an imaginary fear was created to use them as vote banks.
He also said that he BJP party will have to earn their trust and take along their fierce opponents. "There should be no discrimination over caste or religion. This is a challenge and we have to do this", he added.
The Prime Minister elect also said that his second would stand for “Sabka sath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas (Alongside all, development for all, trust of all)”.
Narendra Modi will be sworn as Prime Minister of India for the second consecutive term on May 30 in Rashtrapati Bhavan, a statement issued by the President's office said.
Modi, along with members of the Union Council of Ministers President, will be administered the oath and secrecy of the Prime Minister and other members of the Union Council of Ministers by President Ramnath Kovind, a statement issued by the President’s Office mentioned. The ceremony will be held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7 pm.
The BJP party was able to win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a clear mandate as the party was able to notch up a tally of 353 seats along with its NDA allies.
This is the first time that a non-Congress party has managed to secure a majority for the second term after Indira Gandhi had won in 1971 after her father and former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
