Guwahati, March 11, 2019:

Kamrup Metro (M) Deputy Commissioner, Biswajit Pegu on Monday announced the new motto of election: ‘No voter should be left behind.’

Addressing the media, Pegu said that the election for Guwahati parliamentary constituency will be held on 23 April in the third phrase to which the nomination date has been announced on 28 March. The last date of the nominations is set on April 4. The nomination scrutiny will be held on April 5. The candidates can withdraw their nomination by April 8.

The polling date for Guwahati constituency will be April 23. The model code of conduct will be applicable till May 27.

This time, special measures will be taken by the EC for specially abled persons and old age voters as 475 voters have been identified specially-able.

A total of 21,884 new voters have been introduced out 10,70,132 total voters. Of this, 5,36,070 are male voters and 5,34,062 are female voters.

Total polling stations are 1195 in 525 locations.

Moreover, the EC said that if a particular candidate takes a lead of 90 percent votes in a particular polling station then this vote station will be declared as a critical polling station. Already 54 polling stations have been declared as a critical polling station in the basis of past records. In Guwahati constituency, 5,600 servicemen have been appointed to serve election duty excluding security guard.
