Kokrajhar, 18 August, 2019:

A “NoKs & Veterans Conclave” was conducted by a unit of the Red Horns Division of the Indian Army at Patharghat in Kokrajhar district of Assam on August 17.

The conclave was held to celebrate the Year of Next of Kins (YoNoKs). The session included verification of documents of the 'Next of Kins', Registration on Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV) Portal, emoluments received by the veterans, identification of Next of Kins with special children and any other assistance required by them.

The Next of Kins and Veterans were informed about the latest initiatives on enrolment of girls in Army and assistance being provided for them in pre-recruitment training at unit Headquarters.

The itinerary also included an interactive session, awareness talks on welfare schemes for Next of Kins and Veterans by the Zila Sainik Board, Kokrajhar District, medical check-up by Medical Officer, organisation of refreshments, lunch, and an entertainment programme. More than 300 Veterans and NoKs were present in the conclave.

It is to be mentioned that the year “2019” is being observed as the “Year of Next of Kin” (YoNoK) by Indian Army.

The main objective of “Year of Next of Kin “(YoNok) is to reach out to the Next of Kin (NOKs) of Battle and Physical casualties, veterans and serving personnel along with spreading awareness of the various welfare schemes being undertaken by the Government for the NoKs.

Towards this end, the Gajraj Corps has planned activities to be undertaken in a phased manner throughout the year.
