Seven Die of Suffocation in Hotel's Septic Tank in Gujarat

Vadodara, June 15, 2019:

Seven people including four sanitation workers died while cleaning a hotel’s septic tank in Vadodara on Friday.

The incident took place in Fartikui village outside Darshan hotel at Dabhoi taluk in Gujarat.

The seven victims have been identified as Ashok Harijan (45), Mahesh Harijan (25), Mahesh Patanwadiya (47), Vijay Chaudhary (22), Brijesh Harijan (23), Ajay Vasava (22) and Sahdev Vasava (22).

According to media reports among the seven victims three were hotel staff — Ajay Vasava (24), Vijay Chauhan (22) and Sahdev Vasava (22).

The police are yet trying to ascertain the exact reason behind the incident. The primary autopsy reports of the deceased are still awaited.

According to report, Hassan Abbas Bhoraniya, the owner of the Darshan Hotel, located 30 kilometres from Vadodara city, has been booked under charges of culpable homicide and causing death due to negligence.

According to report, one of the cleaners, who entered the tank, died of suffocation due to some kind of gas leakage. The others then jumped in to check on him but died of the same circumstances.
