MADRID: A Spanish man has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for the bizarre crime of eating his own mother after murdering her.
28-years-old Alberto Sanchez was arrested back in 2019 after police recovered the body dismembered parts of his mother in the house. Reportedly, some parts were stored in plastic bags while some in the freezer.

According to Police, Sanchez aged 26 then, strangulated his mother followed by an argument. He later dismembered and consumed parts of her body over a period of 15 days. Some reports suggest that he even fed some parts to his dog.
Rejecting his plea of being 'psychologically disturbed during the time of the murder, the Spanish court sentenced Sanchez to 15 years of imprisonment for murder and five months for desecration of a corpse.
The court has also ordered Sanchez to pay 73,000 US dollars to his brother as compensation.
Local media and the public dubbed him as the 'Cannibal of Las Ventas' after the story of his bizarre crime went viral.
