GUWAHATI: All the regional parties have turned down heavily on the BJP-led Government over the Union Budget 2021-22, which they have termed as 'anti-poor.'

Jagadish Bhuyan, the General Secretary of the Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP), stated that the budget 21-22 does nothing to address the concerns of the poor.

"This budget will further widen the gulf between the rich and the poor in the country. Additionally, the budget will not resolve the problem of unemployment in the country," Bhuyan stated issuing a release.

The AJP leader also alleged that the funds allocated to the health sector in last year's budget was not utilized properly.

Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, the President of the AJP, talking to newsmen, said, "India's economy is already facing a steep decline. There is no solution to revive the sagging GDP. With this budget, they are only envisaging how to hand over the Government-run institutions to private players."

Ajit Bhuyan, the supremo of the newly floated political party 'Anchalik Gana Morcha', has also slammed the Union Budget 2021-22.

Talking to Inside Northeast, Bhuyan said, "This budget does not cover some of the core issues of Assam and seems like a pre-election gimmick at best."

Singing a different tune, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today described the Union Budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as "pragmatic, people-friendly and development-oriented."

The Chief Minister also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Finance Minister for making landmark allocation for improvement of road infrastructure and welfare of tea workers of the State. The Chief Minister said that the Budget proposals would reinvigorate human capital and innovation.
