Arunachal: Adi community's colourful Solung festival celebrated at Roing

The Solung festival, a vibrant and significant celebration of the Adi community, was joyously observed in Roing, located in the Lower Dibang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh. The festival, known for encapsulating the cultural richness and agricultural prayers of the Adi people, drew widespread participation from locals and distinguished guests alike.

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister graced the occasion, emphasizing the festival’s role in fostering a spirit of joy and well-being within the community. In his address, he praised the enthusiasm and unity displayed by the people, stating that festivals like Solung not only elevate communal harmony but also highlight the enduring connection between culture, tradition, and nature. He noted that these celebrations are a testament to the region’s vibrant heritage, reflecting the Adi community’s deep-rooted values of reverence for nature and the importance of preserving their traditions.

The festival also saw the presence of several notable dignitaries, including Arunachal Pradesh’s Minister of Science & Technology and Cultural Affairs, Dasanglu Pul (wife of late former Chief Minister Kalikho Pul), former MP Mukut Mithi, Assam’s MLA Sadiya Bolin Chetia, Anini MLA Mopi Mihu, Tezu MLA Mohesh Chai, and Dambuk MLA Puinnyo Apum, among others. Their participation underscored the significance of the event, highlighting its importance in preserving and promoting the unique cultural identity of the Adi community.
