In a step towards promoting border tourism and fostering unity, a civilian-military trekking expedition under the Vibrant Village Programme concluded successfully in Zemithang, Arunachal Pradesh.
The expedition, spanning four days, featured a 16-member team consisting of experienced mountaineers from the Indian Mountaineering Federation (IMF) and personnel from the Indian Army. Participants undertook a challenging 40-kilometer trek through the pristine Eastern Himalayas, traversing altitudes ranging from 9,000 to 15,000 feet.
Navigating through dense forests, rugged terrains, and steep mountain slopes, the trek not only offered a thrilling adventure but also served as an opportunity to showcase the untapped natural beauty of Arunachal Pradesh. Indian Army personnel played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the group, providing expert guidance, and sharing valuable high-altitude survival skills.

Reflecting on the journey, Ritesh, a civilian participant, described it as a “once-in-a-lifetime experience” and expressed eagerness to join future expeditions. “Exploring Arunachal Pradesh alongside the Indian Army was truly inspiring,” he said.
This initiative aimed to strengthen bonds between civilians and military personnel while highlighting the strategic and cultural importance of India’s border villages. Its success is expected to pave the way for more such collaborative ventures, attracting attention to the immense potential of border tourism in the Zemithang region.
By integrating remote communities into the national framework, this endeavor also reinforces national security and showcases the region's unique landscapes and heritage, making it a key milestone in India’s efforts to invigorate its border areas.
