A plantation drive was carried out at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) campus to celebrate the Van Mahotsava Week, on Saturday.
A total of 50 saplings were planted near NERIST gas agency during the programme themed “Clean NERIST Green NERIST” which was organized under the banner of NERIST Research Scholars Association (NRSA). The Registrar in-charge of NERIST, M K Camder also took part in the event.
The saplings were provided by the Department of Forestry, NERIST, while temporary bamboo fences (to protect the planted saplings) were arranged by NERSA. The participants of the event also cleared the wild vegetation of the area to ensure proper growth of the newly planted saplings.
