Arunachal: All Moran Students’ Union demands PRC for Moran community people, holds mass rally

The All Moran Students’ Union (AMSU) has lambasted the Government of Arunachal Pradesh for its alleged lackadaisical attitude to granting Permanent Residence Certificates (PRC) to Moran community people living in the border areas of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh for ages.

The AMSU has threatened to launch a vigorous stir if the Arunachal Pradesh government and Assam government continue to show a step-motherly approach to Moran people living in the area.

Demanding PRC at Arunachal Pradesh, the Moran Community staged a mass gathering and rally in the Namsai district.

Protestors alleged that the people of the Moran community are living life like refugees in their own country even after being from the indigenous community.

Speaking to the media one of the protestors said, "All the Moran-based organisations based in Arunachal are protesting against the BJP-led government in Centre and state for the last time as a warning...although we are Indians we are living like refugees which is shameful for both the government."

Further, the Arunachal Moran Students' Union appealed to Assam Government Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to discuss the matter with the Arunachal government regarding the grant of PRC in Arunachal or else include Lakeng with Mahadevpur in Assam.

It is to be mentioned here that hundreds of people from the Moran community, led by six bodies affiliated with the Moran community came out to demand the PRC.

The students' union also threatened the Arunachal government with a dire situation if the PRC is not granted soon.

Meanwhile, the students' union of Arunachal also met AASU advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya in Guwahati and discussed the PRC.

The AASU leader also assured the Moran Students' Union that he would hold a discussion in this regard with the NESSO.

A memorandum was submitted to the additional commissioner of the Lekang administrative circle after a massive rally.
