Arunachal Pradesh is set to host the biggest theatre festival of North East India, the Arunachal Rang Mahotsav (ARM '24), which promises to be a landmark event in the state's cultural calendar. Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced on November 20 that the festival will officially kick off with a spectacular theatre presentation of Gyepo Kalawangpho on November 22 at the DK Convention Centre, Itanagar.
The Arunachal Rang Mahotsav 2024 will be the first-ever dynamic platform to showcase the diverse and rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh. Spread over fifteen days, ARM '24 will feature a vibrant mix of traditional and contemporary performances. This grand event will highlight the state's oral folklore, local performing arts, dance forms, and martial arts, all reflecting the deep-rooted artistic spirit of Arunachal Pradesh.
From Kalaripayattu and Gotipua to Thang Ta, Chhau, and Theyyam, ARM '24 will not only celebrate local artistry but also host national and international performances, elevating the festival to global standards. The festival will feature proscenium performances, street theatre, and intimate theatre spaces, offering a wide variety of artistic experiences for audiences of all ages.
Chief Minister Khandu said that the festival will play a crucial role in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh while encouraging innovation in the arts. "Come and be part of history. Don’t miss this vibrant celebration of art and culture," Khandu said, inviting everyone to experience the magic of the festival.
