After a thrilling finale match between the Services team and Goa in the 77th National Football Championship, Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced the state government's plan of constructing a football stadium larger than the Golden Jubilee within the Itanagar capital region.
The announcement was made on March 9 during the closing ceremony of 77th National Football Championship of Santosh Trophy.
Elated at the frenzy surrounding the sport of football, Pema Khandu, who witnessed the last night football match announced the government's plans.
Taking to platform X, Khandu wrote, "And the winner is... Services Team! Many congratulations. What a superb showdown it was between Goa & Services. The cheers echoed through Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium, Yupia, creating a frenzy of Football⚽fest".
Khandu eve shared pics of the match on his X handle, echoing the fans frenzy and the energy witnessed during the finale match.
Services lifted the Santosh Trophy for the seventh time, beating Goa 1-0 in the Santosh Trophy final at the Golden Jubilee Stadium at Papum Pare District in Arunachal Pradesh.
More than 15,000 passionate fans thronged the stadium to witness an exciting final. Services' Shafeel PP scored the only goal in the 68th minute, which later turned out to be the match-winner. With the win, Services took their title count to seven in the history of the competition. Services goalkeeper Sayad Bin Abdul Kadir was named player of the match.
