Arunachal : Home Minister urges strict adherence to ILP regulations during cleanliness drive in Itanagar

Arunachal Home Minister Mama Natung has called for strict compliance with the Inner Line Permit (ILP) regulations in Arunachal Pradesh, urging individuals from other states to leave if they do not possess the necessary documentation. This statement came during a walkathon and tree plantation event organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Police as part of the Clean India Mission, aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental conservation.

The event, flagged off by Minister Natung at the APP General Ground in Chimpu, Itanagar, saw participation from various dignitaries, including DGP Anand Mohan, Mayor Tamme Phassang of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation, senior police officers, and recruits from the Police Training Centre in Banderdewa. The walkathon commenced from Akashdeep and concluded at Indira Gandhi Park, symbolizing a collective commitment to keeping the capital clean and green.

Addressing the media, Natung emphasized the need for public support in the Swachh Bharat mission, stating, “Itanagar, as the capital city, is the face of our state, and we must ensure it reflects our commitment to cleanliness.” He praised the initiative taken by the Arunachal Pradesh Police and the Municipal Corporation, highlighting that similar cleanliness drives were being conducted across all police stations and check posts in the state.

In his remarks, the Home Minister reiterated the government’s dedication to creating a drug-free and air gun-free Arunachal Pradesh, referencing the success of the air gun surrender campaign that has received national recognition. He urged the public to participate actively in these initiatives for a healthier environment.

On the topic of ILP violations, Natung warned, “Anyone from other states residing in Arunachal without an ILP is violating the law, protected by the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act of 1873. They must leave immediately or obtain the proper ILP to comply with state regulations.” He said that the government would enforce strict measures against those found in violation, reiterating the importance of following legal protocols in the state.
